Head of IP
Build a new kind of intelligence. Ground-up and grounded in neuroscience.
This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to shape the intellectual property foundation of a new paradigm in AI. You’ll work alongside world-class engineers and scientists on a mission to reimagine what machines can do, becoming part of our mission to build the digital nervous system of intelligent agents - not by refining existing tools, but by inventing new systems entirely.
Our software stack is built from scratch in C/C++. We don’t use common ML frameworks- we build what we need. This is deep, interdisciplinary, and often exploratory work. Since our founding in 2020, we’ve created a robust patent portfolio 46 patent assets (including 4 granted patents) - established by our current Head of IP, who built a strong foundation while supporting us part-time and remotely.
Now, we’re entering the next phase, seeking a full-time, on-site leader in Lund to take full ownership of the function, drive it forward, and help turn our breakthroughs into a defensible moat. This is your chance to define the intellectual property foundations to support a new paradigm in AI.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Own and expand our IP function: Lead everything end-to-end, from strategy to hands-on execution, including patents, trade secrets, portfolio development, and external agreements, always aligned with business and research priorities.
Wear several hats with confidence: Act at once as patent engineer, portfolio manager, agreements expert, and patent attorney. Know when to dive in yourself, when to lean on external counsel, and how to gradually build and shape the IP team as the organisation grows.
Shape our defensible edge: Proactively find the path on your own, engaging with research, business, and collaborations, to capture new IP, assess current assets, and determine where we have (or need) a moat, freedom to operate, or risk to mitigate.
Build and run the function: Build up from the foundations established within the team to capture inventions. This will involve developing processes, filings, and portfolio management practices that will scale with our growth, while staying close to the details and doing the work yourself.
Engage at all levels: Advise founders and leadership on long-term strategy, while also rolling up your sleeves to draft filings and manage day-to-day IP operations.
Foster an IP-aware culture: Help our teams recognize, articulate, and protect their innovations, making IP an integral part of how we invent and collaborate.
WHAT YOU BRING
Proven IP leadership: A track record of building and guiding IP portfolios in deep-tech, AI, semiconductors, robotics, biotech, or related fields.
Hands-on execution: Comfortable drafting, filing, and managing patents and trade secrets directly, not just overseeing others.
Strategic and tactical balance: Equally at home shaping long-term IP strategy at the leadership table and executing day-to-day IP operations.
Deep intellectual curiosity and confidence: Eager to immerse yourself in complex research and development, with the confidence to engage directly with cutting-edge science and extract the IP opportunities hidden within.
BONUS SIGNALS
Experience with working in an in-house environment or acting as an advisor on setting up IP processes and systems from scratch in a high-growth environment.
Exposure to interdisciplinary research or industry collaborations (AI, neuroscience, robotics, hardware).
Background as a patent attorney or in-house counsel, with comfort navigating filings, negotiations, and agreements.
A desire to develop IP at a strategic level to form a company moat.
WHO YOU ARE
Resilient go-getter: Positive, pragmatic, and action-oriented, you thrive in a fast-moving, experimental environment.
Not afraid to get your hands dirty: You find energy in rolling up your sleeves and doing the work needed.
Bold yet grounded: You are commercially astute and understand IP risk management strategies, particularly in collaborative scenarios, always finding a pragmatic solution.
Excellent communicator: Able to translate between science, engineering and business. You’re a natural bridge-builder who can engage researchers, leadership, and external partners with clarity and confidence.
Collaborative core member: Based in, or willing to relocate to, Lund, Sweden, embedded in our tech/R&D office and a core part of the team’s daily collaboration.
We believe you are one of the few who combine a PhD or advanced degree in a relevant scientific/technical area (e.g. neuroscience, computer science, mathematics, or engineering) combined with dual legal qualifications as both a European and national patent attorney, with experience navigating global IP landscapes.
You thrive in a position that combines invention capture, prosecution, strategic portfolio management, and third-party negotiations. You enjoy switching between detail and direction, and see building a team over time as part of the opportunity.
WHAT WE OFFER
A career-defining role at the frontier of AI, where your work shapes the foundation of a new paradigm.
The chance to shape and scale our IP function, leaving a lasting mark on how intelligence is invented and protected.
A highly collaborative environment with world-class peers across neuroscience, robotics, and engineering.
The energy and freedom of a fast-moving startup, in a culture that values curiosity, resilience, and invention.
Competitive market salary combined with an attractive long-term incentive plan designed to reward top talent as we scale.
If you want to leave a lasting mark on the future of intelligence, we’d love to hear from you.
About IntuiCell
Today’s AI is not actually intelligent. Intuicell changes that. By translating our life’s work of unconventional and contrarian discoveries in neuroscience into software, we have unlocked the means of giving any system the same genuine intelligence as humans and other animals. In stark contrast to today’s AI that’s entirely reliant on guidance from massive data sets of ideas, experience and information inferred by humans, Intuicell is the gateway to the limitless potential of machines that learn and operate autonomously in the real world with instinctive understanding.
IntuiCell AB is a Swedish deep-tech spin-off from Lund University that replaces pre-trained AI with a Digital Nervous System that learns on the fly. Our proprietary architecture lets any machine learn from first contact, adapt to drift and wear, and generalise to novel conditions, capabilities conventional AI technology lacks.
